Call For Films For 8th Annual NCBS Bluegrass Film Festival

The Northern California Bluegrass Society has issued it’s annual Call For Films for the Eighth Annual NCBS Bluegrass  Film Festival to be held on January 25, 2015 in Redwood City. The film festival is part of the weekend’s NCBS Bluegrass On Broadway Festival.

The deadline for film submissions for consideration by the festival is October 24, 2014.

Kids On Stage Celebrates 20 Years At The Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival

Kids On Stage is ready for you!

The Kids On Stage program at the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. making it way older than any of its current participants. The Northern California Bluegrass Society festival is set for Bolado Park in Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister).

The GOF performing kids program was one of the first in the nation and a very important part of the festival! All persons 17 & under who play or sing bluegrass music are encouraged to participate. Contact Kids On Stage Director  (Regina Bartlett) regiberry (at) aol (dot) com for more information.

Longtime staff is returning and some new younger staff has been added this year, including Marty Varner, Amaya Rose Dempsey, and Ryan McKinley.

Here is the schedule:

Thursday-Sunday, AUGUST 7-10

Thursday — Gates open at NOON. Kids are welcome to come on over and help decorate the Kids On Stage Rehearsal Camp!

Friday —  Meet & greet all the other kids at 7:00pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Saturday — One hour rehearsals scheduled at 11:00am, 3:00pm, & 7:00pm.

Sunday — One hour rehearsal begins at 10:00am, dress rehearsal at noon, MAIN STAGE PERFORMANCE at 1:15pm.

Festival favorite Houston Jones will return to the main stage of the 2014 Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival at Bolado Park.

The Thursday-Sunday, August 7-10 festival is in the tiny hamlet of Tres Pinos, 7 miles south of Hollister, and is the annual benefit for the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

Our crews are just about filled, but if you are interested, you can still volunteer and get in FREE to the Northern California Bluegrass Society’s 2014 Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, set for August 7-10 at Bolado Park in Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister).

Festival volunteers enjoy all the fun of making the festival happen while they work with their bluegrass friends.

Blue Sun Cafe (Boulder Creek), the most popular food vendor in the 21-year history of the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, will be back this year.

He Brews Coffee (Oregon) will also return.

So, plenty of good food will await us August 7-10, 2014 at Bolado Park in Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister).

There will be plenty of tickets at the gate.

Free camping for tents and RVs is included with all multi-day tickets. There is an extra charge for RVs hooked up to electricity.
