GOF favorite Faux Renwah will return to the main stage at the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, set for August 7-10, 2014 at Bolado Park, Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister).

The Harmony Grits will return to the stage of the Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

The FREE, beloved Rite of Spring will begin at Noon at the Duck Pond Stage in San Lorenzo Park (next to the courthouse) in Santa Cruz.

The fair is the longest-running Northern California Bluegrass Society/Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society event.

Also on the bill: The Lampel Brothers With Jim Lewin, The Naked Bootleggers, and Bean Creek.

A raffle will offer tickets to the season’s bluegrass festivals and concerts, plus other great prizes. The NCBS Information Booth will have the details on live bluegrass music throughout the summer. Organic food will be available.

Some Good-Old-Fashioned, Do-It-Ourselves Bluegrass Radio On Monday Night April 14

kkup-coverage-mapGood Old Fashioned Bluegrass radio will return to the airwaves on “Monday Night Bluegrass,” April 14, 2014. The program will air 6:00-9:00pm on KKUP Radio, 91.5FM in the South Bay & Monterey Bay Areas.

The program host will be Sully Roddy of KFAT fame. The musical guest will be Steep Ravine, which will make its Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival debut August 7-10, 2014.

Michael Hall of the Northern California Bluegrass Society will talk to the members of the hot new band about their music and their appearance at the upcoming Do It Ourselves Festival in Boulder Creek — and complete GOF festival information will also  be available. Two tickets to the DIO Festival will be given away to lucky listeners.

RBA To Present Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band On Saturday, May 3

Redwood Bluegrass Associates will present the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band in concert on Saturday evening, May 3, 2014. The program is welcomed by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

The concert will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Of Mountain View, 1667 Miramonte Avenue, Mountain View.

An open jam hosted by Ed Cirimele will begin at the church at 5:00pm, with the concert to follow at 7:30pm.

This will be the final concert of the RBA Fall-Winter-Spring series.

The NCBS-Welcomed A Day Of Bluegrass this Saturday, April 14 is the only bluegrass festival in Napa Valley and will feature some new Napa Valley bands and some great out of town talent.

This will be a relaxed, fun bluegrass gathering in a historic St. Helena venue with plenty of time and space for jams.

Our gracious hosts, Napa Bluegrass & The Golden State Revue, will greet you and your friends! Here is all you need to know to have a great time:

SATURDAY, April 12

11:00 – Banjo Fiddle (replacing Pickle Creek due to a medical emergency)

Venue: The Native Sons Of The Golden West Hall is located at 1313 Spring Street in downtown St. Helena.

Jamming: There will be outdoor jamming around the building. In addition, a bar one only block away will offer indoor jamming as well.

Directions: St. Helena is located in the Napa Valley, north of Napa on Highway 29. Coming from the south, turn left on Spring Street. 1313 Spring Street is about 2 blocks down on the left. There is plenty of free street parking.

Weather: A beautiful day in the Napa Valley — Sunny. High 73, Low 47.

Food: You are welcome to bring your own food and drink if you like. Food service will be available onsite, plus the charming eateries of downtown St. Helena await us.

Lodging: There are a number of small inns and motels near the festival location.

The FREE NCBS/SCBS Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair on Saturday, May 3 will present Northern California’s 2014 Best Bluegrass Band, the award-winning Bean Creek of Santa Cruz.

This is the 29th year for the fair that celebrates both springtime in Santa Cruz and the start of the outdoor California bluegrass season. The music is brought to you by the volunteers of the Northern California Bluegrass Society/Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society.

The Lampel Brothers With Jim Lewin, The Harmony Grits, and The Naked Bootleggers will round out the afternoon program.

The afternoon of music starts at Noon at the Duck Pond Stage in San Lorenzo Park, 137 Dakota Avenue (near the Santa Cruz courthouse off Ocean Street). A raffle with summer festival tickets and other great prizes and (new!) vendors serving organic food will help make a fun, relaxing day in the park.

The Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival will present The Abbott Brothers on August 7-10 at Bolado Park in Tres Pinos (7 miles south of Hollister).

The 21st annual gathering of top California bluegrass bands will feature camping, jamming, friends, food, fun, children’s activities, Kids On Stage, a low power FM broadcast of the stage to the camp, 3 stages, shade, hook-ups, restrooms & showers, craft vendors, and plenty of great music.

The festival is a benefit for the Northern California Bluegrass Society.
